MANTRA Chain: the network, its token and the companies behind it
MANTRA Chain is an EVM-compatible Layer 1 blockchain, live since 23 October 2024, built so that issuers can put real-world assets on a public chain and still apply real-world rules. The chain is operated by MANTRA Chain Association, and a separate group company, Mantra Finance FZE, is licensed by VARA in Dubai under VASP Licence VL/25/02/001.

- Asset An issuer records rights in a real-world asset, such as a building or a fund unit, as a token.
- Rule The issuer's conditions travel with the token. A permissioned standard such as ERC-3643 lets a contract refuse a transfer to a wallet that has not been approved.
- Settlement The transfer settles on a public ledger secured by validators, for a fee paid in MANTRA.

What is MANTRA Chain?
MANTRA Chain is a public Layer 1 built for tokenizing real-world assets. Anyone can read it and send transactions, while an application on it can restrict who holds or trades a given token. It runs on the Cosmos SDK, has been EVM-compatible since 17 September 2025, supports CosmWasm contracts and connects to other chains over IBC. Its native coin is MANTRA, formerly OM.
A public chain for permissioned applications
Property, fund units and private credit come with rules about who may own them. On MANTRA Chain those rules can sit in the token contract instead of in a side agreement. The RWA tokenization platform page sets out the stack, the token standards and the compliance model in full.
Who uses it: institutions, builders and token holders
Institutions issue and manage tokenized assets. Builders deploy EVM or CosmWasm contracts with Ethereum tooling such as MetaMask and Hardhat. Token holders pay fees in MANTRA, stake it with validators and vote on upgrades. MANTRA was founded in 2020.

8 days unbonding period for staked MANTRA
Hold, stake and govern with the MANTRA token
MANTRA pays network fees, secures the chain through staking and carries governance votes. Total supply stood at 8.22B on 4 October 2026, and staked coins take 8 days to unbond. Staking rewards are variable and not guaranteed. The rate, its method and the risks are set out under MANTRA token supply and staking.

Security and the August 2026 incident
"On 20 August 2026, MANTRA Chain was exploited."
An attacker used an unsigned-integer underflow in the balance-accounting layer of cosmos/evm, an upstream dependency, to move 720,923,967.99 MANTRA, about US$3.6 million at the time, out of the burn address and a legacy multisig. The post-mortem states that no validator, administrator or governance keys were compromised, that no customer account or exchange-held balance was debited and that no new MANTRA was minted. The chain resumed on patched release v8.4.0, and MANTRA listed four changes to its monitoring and to upstream disclosure.
The full timeline, the root cause and the status of each change are in security and the August 2026 incident report.

How MANTRA is regulated
Three legal facts matter here, and each belongs to a different entity. The blockchain itself holds no licence.
MANTRA Chain Association
The site's Terms name the Association as operator of this website and say it offers no products or services of its own. Its jurisdiction, company number and registered address are not published. MANTRA Chain Association operates the MANTRA Chain blockchain and is not licensed by VARA.
Licence: none
Mantra Finance FZE
Mantra Finance FZE, a separate MANTRA Group company, is licensed by Dubai's Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority (VARA) under VASP Licence VL/25/02/001, issued on 19 February 2025, for Exchange Services, Broker-Dealer Services and Management and Investment Services. The register entry shows the status as Active and lists no Category 1 VA Issuance activity. The licence covers that company only.
VASP Licence VL/25/02/001
MiCA white paper for the EU
MANTRA publishes a crypto-asset white paper under Article 6 of the EU's MiCA regulation. A white paper is a disclosure document, not an approval, and no CASP authorisation is claimed. The offeror's legal name is not confirmed.

The entity table and the leadership are on the page about who runs MANTRA Chain. Every register field is in licences and regulatory disclosures.
